UHIV Fellowship Stakeholders’ Forum
The UHIV Fellowship Stakeholders’ Meeting took place on 4th June, 2014 at the UoN Central Catering Conference Centre (CCU).
The main agenda was to bring together the Participating Local Partners (PLPs); Collaborating Universities and the UHIV Fellowship partners to discuss and deliberate on the gaps and needs to be addressed and the way forward in the implementation of the UoN HIV Capacity Building Fellowship.
The meeting agenda was based on the consideration of PLPs as the main focus in implementation of the program, and therefore, know better the gaps and needs to be addressed on the ground.
Some of the issues discussed included:
- Membership and Terms of Reference for the Fellowship Advisory Board
The roles of the FAB will include: Supporting and strengthening linkage between the fellowship and the government and other agencies /sectors; Receiving input from government and civil society; Maximizing impact and ensure sustainability; Promoting and providing sustainability of the project; Advising on resource mobilization (internal and external) and Promoting move towards an effective locally led and managed HIV response
- Membership and Terms of Reference for the PLP Forum
The roles of the PLP Forum will include: Providing leadership in strengthening relationships with the PLPs; creating links between then PLP and UHIV; Advising on skills and competence gaps for health ; Advising on the capacity building needs of PLP; Advising on skills and competency gaps of healthcare workers; Reviewing the process of quantifying PLP capacity building impact; Providing coordination the role of the PLP program locally and Advising on organizational development of the PLP program
- Gaps to be addressed by the Long term Training – 2 Yrs
Capacity building gaps that can be addressed through the 5 tracks: HIV Program Management, Health Economics, Health Informatics, Epidemiology and Bio statistics and Monitoring and Evaluation.
- Gaps to be addressed by the medium term Training – 6 Months
Capacity building gaps that can be addressed through training like HIV in special populations; leadership and governance; use of data for decision making; health investment cost benefit analysis and cost effective analysis; health record keeping, monitoring and reporting; planning and budgeting and efficiency in healthcare management
- Gaps to be addressed by the Short Time Training – 5 days (face to face)/ 6 weeks (online)
Capacity building gaps that can be addressed through training for instance: Basic monitoring and evaluation (including operational research); Report writing; Data Management (tools development, collection, storage, retrieval); Data analysis; Fundraising- including proposal writing; Presentation skills; Online self learning and communication; Leadership and management
